The Faith of Obadiah

And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly:  For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the Lord , that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.) 1 Kings 18:3-4 KJV

I am seeing the faith of a man called Obadiah. Obadiah was a man the Bible says, “he feared God greatly.”  He feared God and trusted in Him so much, that when Jezebel was killing all the prophets he went and hid 100 of them in a cave and fed them. Obadiah was a man of great faith. He knew that someone could find out, especially as he was working for the king; yet, Obadiah trusted that God would help him and preserve his life.

Do you have that much faith in God that you are willing to risk your life? This also reminds me of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; they also trusted God with their lives when they stepped into the fiery furnace. They went in, trusting that God would not let a strand of their hair even come out smelling burnt and if He does, He is still God. O that we also might experience such faith and trust.

A personal cry

Lord, I give my whole being to You; wherever You send me I will go, whatever You want me to do, I will do, whenever You need me I will come. Lead me LORD in Thy righteousness, make Thy way clear before my eyes, for it is Thou LORD Almighty that makes me dwell in safety. Lord lead me, I trust You and I know that whatever You do is for my own good. You only make me dwell in safety, I can only trust You with my life.

Lord, make me brave; bring me to that place where I am willing to die for You; bring me to a place that I am able to say confidently that I love You, and if need be risk my life for You. So many times, I say I would, but truly if persecution comes, would I be faithful? Just because there is no persecution in the UK does not mean that I should take everything for granted. LORD, give me faith, trust and most importantly, give me love for You more than I can imagine.

No greater love hath no man than this, that a man should lay down His life for His friends. Amen.
