Are you still within the covenant?
In the book of Ruth chapter 1, we see Naomi and Elimelech, who for me are a representation of Adam and Eve in my heart. Just as Adam and Eve disobeyed the covenant of God with them in the Garden of Eden, so also do we see Elimelech and Naomi repeating the same.
It was fruit to eat that brought the trouble to Adam and Eve, and it was the need to eat bread that took Elimelech and Naomi out of Bethlehem Judah to Moab.
Since Naomi and Elimelech had sojourned to Moab against God’s will, their children suffered the consequence of the same, just as you know that the first homicide – murder in the Bible started with Adam and Eve’s children.
For Elimelech and Naomi’s children, first, they married women of Moab; these are women God had told the Israelites not to mingle with, but sadly, they refused to keep their part of God’s covenant.
Now, back to you my reader, have you entered a covenant with God? Are you saved, have you been to Jesus for the cleansing flow? Are you washed in Jesus’ blood? If you are not, then you need the Saviour.
And for others, maybe you have known the Lord before, but now you have compromised the faith, God says, it is time to come back to my term of the covenant.
Do you compromise the faith in order to find a man to marry, a place to work or to get a contract? God says, My arms are still waiting to receive you back, come back according to my term of the covenant. All you need to do is give your life to Jesus today. You may have little time left. Don’t wait. God is ready to receive you.
1 John 5:3 says “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”
